The hubbs and I took a long weekend getaway from NYC to celebrate his college friend's nuptials Upstate, near the Catskills (I always think, Dirty Dancing ;)). With lodging suggestions from the bride-and-groom-to-be, we opted to stay in the neighboring hamlet (yes, hamlet, courtesy of Wikipedia) of Roscoe, NY - which boasts itself as Trout Town USA. We traversed to Roscoe from NYC by way of bus - 2 buses, in fact, which worked out, but we would not recommend. According to locals, driving there is even more frustrating. Once we arrived to Roscoe, we found our recommended inn to be charming - The Reynolds House Inn and Motel. With a population estimated at 541 humans, not being fishing folk, we found the hamlet to be a bit lacking in excitement - not surprising, but it was nicely peaceful. We came for the peaceful charm and the wedding, anyway.
With a free afternoon, after the gorgeous wedding (see below), we discovered an unexpected but lovely local distillery to wile away the hours on a beautiful August afternoon. If you find yourself in Roscoe, Trout Town USA, I would highly recommend Prohibition Distillery - with great, friendly staff, an inviting backyard with staff-made wooden swing, delicious cocktails, and excellent local spirits.
Ben and I had such fun celebrating the happy newlyweds at their DIY rustic-chic wedding. The weather, as you can see, could not have been more perfect - thank goodness! My navy striped gown, I adore and is plenty long for a tall gal like me (I stand about 5'10"), is from Chicwish and choker from Zara. Ben's navy blue tux is from Asos and his fabulous brown Oxfords are from Paul Smith.
