Oakland natives give back

Playing hooky may seem harmless, but for the Oakland, CA school system, this rebellious act has become a crippling epidemic. Oakland Natives (ON) is a non-profit organization that sprang into action to prevent the severe long-term ramifications that school absence poses for the community of Oakland. Since its inception, ON has championed low-income, at-risk students through a variety of programs intended to incentivize school attendance. I was tapped to develop content highlighting the impact ON has made in its community thus far. I crafted copy to build excitement around the program, aiming to rally ongoing donor support from key stakeholders of the organization. I conceptualized and managed copy for print and web — which is also used for ONs new website.
